CONSULTATION HOURS FOR COVID-19 VACCINATIONS
The Zuger Kantonsspital offers a special consultation for vaccinations, including the Covid-19 vaccination.
FOR WHOM IS A BOOSTER VACCINATION AGAINST COVID-19 RECOMMENDED?
According to the current recommendation of the Federal Vaccinaton Commission (EKIF), the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and EKIF now only recommend vaccination against Covid-19 for high-risk patients aged 16 and over and for all people aged 65 and over due to the high level of basic immunity in the population.
Risk patients are:
- Persons aged ≥ 65 years, as they have an increased risk of severe disease progression.
- People aged ≥ 16 years with an increased risk of COVID-19 disease or an increased risk of complications due to certain pre-existing conditions:
- High blood pressure
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Diabetes
- Lung and respiratory diseases
- Diseases that weaken the immune system
- Therapies that weaken the immune system (chemotherapy, immunosuppression)
- Cancer
- Obesity (BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2)
- Renal insufficiency
- Liver cirrhosis
- Persons aged ≥ 16 years with trisomy 21
- Pregnant women
Vaccination autumn/winter 2024/25 from 16 years of age
- EKIF and FOPH recommend a single dose of a JN.1-adapted COVID-19 vaccine from fall/winter 2024/25, regardless of the number of previous vaccinations.
- It should be noted that a minimum interval of 6 months must be observed after the last COVID-19 vaccination or after a documented COVID-19 disease.
Children and adolescents under the age of 16
- After preparatory consultation, vaccination is only recommended for previously unvaccinated, severely immunosuppressed children and adolescents who must first undergo serological testing.
COSTS
The costs of vaccinations against COVID-19 are covered by health insurance companies since 1.7.2024 (less deductible and any franchise), provided the EKIF/BAG conditions are met:
- You must be over 65 years of age and/or belong to the group of people at particularly high risk (see above).
- The minimum interval between the last vaccination or the last documented infection with SARS-CoV2 must be at least 6 months.
